The photos above would have been taken about 1877 in Quincy, IL by the Mrs. W. A. Reed Studios. The image to the right is from the back of the photos.
We can't be positive the people in the photos are the Nichols family, but they very likely are. The 1870 census has David and his family living in Illinois. The question remains "Where is Luretta?" Luretta, their other daughter, would have been about 10 years old in 1877.

Mrs. Warren A. Reed, also known by her maiden name, Candace McCormick, was a successful woman entrepreneur running a photography studio in 19th century Illinois.

She would have been 21 years old at the time.

lived in this house in the late 1930's and early 40's.
It still stands today.
